About Dawlat Zadran

Dawlat Zadran is one of Afghanistan’s earliest pace-bowling enforcers—fiery, committed, and capable of delivering serious pace when it mattered most. Born on March 19, 1988, in Paktia Province, Dawlat emerged during a time when Afghan cricket was dominated by spinners. But with his athletic build and natural fast-bowling ability, he brought balance to the attack and gave Afghanistan a genuine quick who could rattle top-order batters. He made his ODI debut in 2011, and over the next several years, Dawlat became a key part of Afghanistan’s pace unit, especially in limited-overs cricket. He could consistently clock speeds in the 140s (kph) and was known for his aggression, short-pitched deliveries, and well-directed yorkers. He often partnered with Shapoor Zadran to form Afghanistan’s early fast-bowling pair. Dawlat’s standout moment came in the 2015 Cricket World Cup, where he bowled a stunning final over against Scotland to seal Afghanistan’s first-ever World Cup victory. His death bowling skills, especially under pressure, made him a trusted weapon in crunch moments. Though later overshadowed by rising pacers like Naveen-ul-Haq and Fareed Ahmad, Dawlat’s experience remained invaluable. He was frequently called upon in major tournaments due to his big-match temperament and ability to swing the ball at pace. Off the field, Dawlat Zadran is known for his fierce loyalty to the national team and his deep love for fast bowling. Hailing from the same region as several other Afghan cricketers, he helped popularize pace bowling among a generation raised on spin. Dawlat Zadran is not just remembered for wickets—but for the fire he brought with every spell. In the rise of Afghan cricket, he played the role of the warrior with the new ball—charging in, giving it his all, and inspiring others to believe that fast bowling too could thrive in Afghan soil.
