About Mohammad Saifuddin

Mohammad Saifuddin is Bangladesh’s quietly effective all-rounder—a cricketer with both the ball control of a seasoned pacer and the batting grit of a dependable finisher. Born on November 1, 1996, in Feni, Saifuddin rose through the age-group levels as a gifted swing bowler who could hold the bat lower down the order. From the start, his balance of skills was evident, and he soon earned recognition through his performances in the Under-19 World Cup and domestic cricket. He made his international debut in 2017 in a T20I against Sri Lanka and followed it up with an ODI debut later that year. What stood out immediately was his composure—unusual for a newcomer, especially in death overs. He wasn’t express fast, but he had remarkable control over his variations: slower balls, cutters, yorkers, and the ability to keep calm under pressure. In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, Saifuddin was one of Bangladesh’s most reliable bowlers. He picked up 13 wickets in the tournament, often bowling during the toughest stages—either with the new ball or in the final overs. His performance against India, where he bowled with heart and then scored an unbeaten 51 off 38 balls, nearly pulling off an improbable chase, remains a highlight of his international career. As a batter, Saifuddin is no slouch. Left-handed and free-flowing, he has played multiple cameos that have helped Bangladesh finish innings with momentum. His ability to hit cleanly down the ground and rotate strike makes him a genuine all-round option in ODIs and T20Is. In domestic cricket, he has also proven himself capable of playing longer innings. Injuries, unfortunately, have often interrupted his rhythm. Recurrent back and ankle issues kept him out of action for long stretches after 2021, just when he seemed to be finding his groove. But Saifuddin has shown immense resilience—always working hard in rehab, constantly staying in touch with the game, and never giving up on his international dreams. Off the field, he is soft-spoken, polite, and deeply committed to his role. Teammates praise his professionalism and humility. Saifuddin’s calm demeanor, even during tense situations, makes him a valuable presence in the dressing room. With age on his side and skill in abundance, Mohammad Saifuddin remains one of Bangladesh’s most promising all-rounders—ready to rise again and serve the Tigers with both ball and bat.
